Here we go! Like everyone I've always wantes a vw camper. To go travelling, wind in your hair and the sun shining of that vw badge!! Instead, I have a beautful white shiny panel van!! SWB, no high top but I do have electric windows and a MOT!!! I will now attempt to covert this baby into a cool camper for the sun!! Any help from you guys and girls out there would be great. Campergirl has already helped me with my windows. Her is a couple of wee snaps to start me off. Emma

Halp with converting a Relay
Fri, 09/03/2010 - 21:33 — brucegrieveBeing of a certain age, I am also planning on converting a panel van into a travelling home for going climbing, hang-gliding, paragliding, skiing, mountaineering, etc, etc. Having had lots of friends go out and just buy a 2nd hand large van for chucking kit in, I am planning on doing this a little more professionally and making a vehicle that I could live in around Europe for several months on end. If I spend a lot of time kitting a vehicle out then the last thing I need is the base van to pack in so, after years of owning old cars, it looks like my first new vehicle will be a Citroën Relay (L3H2). As you are kitting yours out, I would be very keen to get your thoughts on what could work in this type of van. Let me know how it goes.
Bruce,Thanks for your email.

Thanks for your email. At the moment my van is still white and plain .............. no change at all. However, what I'm planning to do is put a couple of decent windows on each side and the back doors. Maybe a roof vent.... undecided!!! I've already bought some nice auto carpet for the walls and ceiling. I'm going for a vw layout as its simple and seems to work. I have a swb so options are limited. I'm going to have a leisure battery and hook up for campsites. I think when your planning this kind of thing you can get carried away. I want a van that's functional but that also looks and feels comfortable for me. It all sounds straight forward but I'm sure there will be hiccups along the way!! Do you have your van yet?? What are your plans??
Fittings
Sat, 09/04/2010 - 12:13 — brucegrieveHi Emma,
Sounds good. It will be another 6-8 weeks before my one turns up so I would be interested to find out which windows you get and how easily they go in as well as other bits and pieces. As I am based in Huddersfield I am planning on getting some help on ideas and sourcing furniture / fittings from "Convert Your Van Ltd" in Sheffield (www.convertyourvan.co.uk). Will keep an eye on your blogg and post up some photos / ideas of my own, as the project goes on. My aim is to get it 90% there (not that it will ever be finished!) for climbing / hang-gliding in France around July next year.
