Fitting seat swivels to allow the driver's and passenger's seats to turn round to face backwards is a great way to make the most of the limited space available in a campervan or motorhome.  For the benefit fitting seat swivels bring to your campervan or motorhome we think it is one of the lowest cost, relatively achievable DIY conversion tasks.  For more information read our article about fitting seat swivels.

 

This Seat Swivel is for Fiat Ducato / Peugeot Boxer / Citroen Relay and Citroen Jumper vans (made in 2007 and after) and it is made by Sportscraft of Germany.  These are high quality seat swivels which have been crash tested and have TUV approval.  They are easier to fit than the Fasp swivels for these vans (which we can supply on request)and contain all the fittings and fixings you need so its probably worth the small amount of extra cash.  They are also slightly off-centre so the seat moves away from the door as you turn (there is also a version which isn't off-centre and works for either passenger or drivers side - let us know if you want one, though we can't think why you would?!).  Choose whether you want a swivel for drivers or passenger side below.

 

Campervan Conversion DIY Difficulty: 2/5.  Note that we haven't had any difficulties reported with this model, but there may be a few tweaks required but nothing that should frighten you off.

Things to watch out for:

Airbags / seat heating / other wiring - disconnect the battery before doing anything with wiring.  After fitting the swivel, wires can be passed through the hole.

Things mounted under the seat are a problem if they are higher than the seat base - for example batteries, heaters, etc.  Batteries can usually be replaced with lower profile ones.

Sometimes bolts can catch when swiveling - if this happens you will either need to use shorter bolts, cut down these ones using a hack saw, do some filing, or source some with flat heads.  They need to be high tensile bolts so get them from an appropriate place - often local engineering / welding companies are the best people to go to for this type of problem.
