Mercedes Sprinter / VW LT35 seat swivel made by FASP

 

Fitting seat swivels to allow the driver's and passenger's seats to turn round to face backwards is a great way to make the most of the limited space available in a campervan or motorhome.  For the benefit fitting seat swivels bring to your campervan or motorhome we think it is one of the lowest cost, relatively achievable DIY conversion tasks.  For more information read our article about fitting seat swivels.

 

This Seat Swivel is for both Mercedes Sprinter (pre 2006) and Volkswagen LT35 (pre 2006) vans and it is made by Fasp of Italy.  These are high quality seat swivels and have been fully crash tested ("homologated" for those of you who know what that means?!).  We can also supply swivels for these vans made by Sportcraft which may be slightly more user friendly to fit but cost slightly more - drop us a line if you're keen.

 

Campervan Conversion DIY Difficulty: 2/5 - Note that we haven't had any difficulties reported with this model, but sometimes you may encounter problems with various issues and may need to tweak things to make it work (often this won't be necessary).  Please take photos and let us know of any problems you encounter and we'll provide what help we can.

  

Things to watch out for:

Airbags / seat heating / other wiring - disconnect the battery before doing anything with wiring.  After fitting the swivel, wires can be passed through the hole.

Things mounted under the seat are a problem if they are higher than the seat base - for example batteries, heaters, etc.  Batteries can usually be replaced with lower profile ones.

Sometimes bolts can catch when swiveling - if this happens you will either need to use shorter bolts, cut down these ones using a hack saw, do some filing, or source some with flat heads.  They need to be high tensile bolts so get them from an appropriate place - often local engineering / welding companies are the best people to go to for this type of problem.
