These are good quality external van window insulation mats (also known as thermal blinds or thermal screens).  The external mats offer a good alternative to internal insulation mats because they are much more effective at preventing condensation on the cab windows.  The problem with internal screens is that they keep the van warm, but the windows still get cold so all the moisture in the van condenses on the cold windows.  With external mats you gain the advantage of keeping the windows warm as well so there is much less opportunity for condensation.

Obviously you need to get out of the van to put these mats on and if it is wet outside they will get wet which isn't a problem becaused they are designed to take a battering from the elements.  The only issue with them getting wet is you then have to deal with wet mats in the morning.  So there are pros and cons of internal vs external mats - either way, we strongly recommend investing in one or the other because without any insulation on your windows your van will be a much less pleasant place to spend time!
