This is a blown air gas heater which is controlled by a thermostat and will run on either propane or butane gas. The Propex Heatsource 2800 heater is specifically designed for installation in larger campervans or motorhomes. For more info, read our article here about

About the Propex HeatSource2800 - This heater is the big brother of the popular
HeatSource2000 campervan heater and like that heater uses propane or butane gas as fuel and uses power from your battery to run a fan which blows the newly heated air around your campervan. Because the heater runs on gas rather than diesel the HeatSource 2800 is completely independent from your engine. The heater is also completely 'room-sealed' which means there is no way for exhaust fumes to get into your living space and results in a very safe design for campervan and motorhome heating systems. Propex have also done well in producing a quiet and unobtrusive heater which quietly comes on and off as you need it. In a medium sized space like a big campervan or motorhome, the HeatSource2800 does a great job of bringing your van up to a nice warm temperature.
Fitting the HeatSource2800: Fitting a Propex heater in a campervan or motorhome is actually quite a straightforward task which most people taking on a campervan conversion project should be happy taking on. Its worth the effort for the satisfaction of turning it on the first time you get cold! Although slightly bigger than the HeatSource2000, the Propex2800 heater is still nice and compact so finding space for it is rarely a problem.
Control: Both the HS2000 and HS2800 are supplied as standard with a solid state electronic thermostat which automatically switches the unit on and off to maintain the desired temperature. When the room temperature drops below the selected level, the Heatsource will automatically ignite and run until the cabin reaches the selected temperature. The thermostat is an easy to fit surface mount design and integrates with the new electronics fitted to the HS2000 and HS2800 heaters. Unlike some heaters, there is minimal electrical current consumption during ignition, so cycling the Heatsource on and off does not have the effect of additional battery drain.
Dimensions: 415 x 210mm x 120mm. (compared to 320x172x100mm for HeatSource 2000)
Average Gas Consumption: 225grams/hour (running continuously)
3.9kg Propane Cylinder Lasts: 17.5hrs (running continuously)
Power consumption: 1.9Amps (running continuously)
Fuel: Propane or Butane plus 12V supply
Heat Output: 2.8kW
Note that although the consumption rates above look more drastic than the smaller HeatSource2000, in reality the 2800 will be on for less of the time since its more powerful - Propex themselves think the two heaters end up being similar in terms of efficiency and overall gas consumption.
