Hi I have just found this site as I am looking at doing a Camper Conversion.
The Transit is owned by my company, we have changed from the Transit to a Luton which is now fitted as a mobile workshop. I had toyed with the idea of using this van as a base for my camper however I would like more seats and space (I want a king size bed!).
Off the top of my head the description is as such (I will check and update it when I have the actual information.):-
- 60K Miles (It was a reserve van for BT so spent most of the time in the garage awaiting been used as a courtesy van)
- BT Grey - Needs touching up in areas where surface rust has started to show, however all the panels are straight enough.
- R registered
- MOT till JAN (Been a company vehicle it has been looked after)
- TAX till JAN
- Twin Captain Seats with both armrests (Makes the world of difference, wish my Luton had them)
- Night heater fitted with the extra hot water hand wash feature (Needs the tap fitting and a new bowl, however it would plumb straight into a sink unit.)
- Removable bulk head so make it suit your needs.
- Roof Rack with ladder rack
- Twin step tow bar perfect for getting in and out the back
- It has a low roof but have seen the kit to extend it for £500 and it is local so they would fit it for an extra £99 (They can put roof lights in and side windows for £50 each)
- 2.5 Diesel "Banana" engine that looks new the engine bay is very clean guess the guys in the BT garage didn't have too much else to do!
- Good tyres (The rears have ATS insurance on them)
- It has the fittings for the rear BT tent awning however the canvas was not with the van so would need a good search on EBay.
- Gross weight 3500KG's so can be driven with a full car licence at any age. (Gives aprox 1900KG pay load for fitting and fixtures etc)
The bad bits:-
- Some surface rust, needs rubbing down and repaying (If I were converting a van I would have a full re spray any way) I personally would also do the flared arch kit at the same time.
- Wheels look old, they could do with either alloys or shot blasting and painting.
- The cab blower only works on full and needs a new resistor (£20) to work on slower settings.
- There are no windows in the van panels (may be goo may be bad depends on your ideas!)
Haynes Manual Info:-
- Overall Length 4616mm
- Overall Width 1972mm
- Wheelbase 2835mm
- Kerb weight 1599KG
Viewing more than welcome I am in West Yorkshire.
Ask any questions that I may have missed and I will check all the information to make sure it is factual when I have the documents. (I am unsure if I am able to upload photos as I have just joined the forum)
I would trade with a Double Crew Cab Luton Van if you have one. Adam
